IN LOVING MEMORY OF
David J.
Majerowicz
January 18, 1960 – May 6, 2024
David James Majerowicz, 64, a resident of Arnold, passed away suddenly on May 6, 2024, at Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis.
He was born on January 18,1960 in Baltimore, MD. He was adopted as an infant by the late Herman & Dorothy Majerowicz and was raised in the Dividing Creek community of Arnold, along with his sister, Donna. David always felt blessed that he had such loving parents. David was proud that he lived his entire life, within a 5-mile radius of where he grew up.
As a graduate of Mount St. Joseph Catholic School in Baltimore, he excelled academically and found his love of the sport of wrestling. This passion led to coaching youth wrestling on the Broadneck peninsula for many years, while raising his young family. He also attended Anne Arundel Community College and UMBC. He worked at the U.S. Naval Academy, as an Engineering Technician, serving in the Project Support Shop within the School of Engineering for 19 years, where he was a key contributor to hundreds of students and faculty on technical projects.
David played music in the Annapolis area for over 40 years. He played guitar and sang as a soloist and with the band "Pilgrim & Trout". Their music was flown on the US Space Shuttle Discovery and their music was played as a wake-up call for the crew of the Discovery while docked at the International Space Station in 2009. Before working at USNA, David ran his own business for many years, where part of his work included building model ships, for testing, for the Department of the Navy. He enjoyed sailing, fishing, crabbing, and playing adult ice hockey. He was an avid reader, and always enjoyed learning. (CS Lewis was one of his favorites). He did his homework on every subject that interested him, which made him very tough to debate. He loved having in-depth discussions about religion, politics, and physics, just to name a few subjects.
David is survived by his beloved companion of close to 20 years, Carol Gibson, whom he married on April 3, 2023. He is also survived by his son, Joshua (Jessica) and granddaughter, Evelyn of Warrenton, VA; son, Matthew of Annapolis; daughter, Sarah (Michael) of Annapolis; stepdaughter, Melissa (Nick) of Odenton; stepson, Aaron of Arnold; stepson, Kyle (Theresa) of Annapolis; sister, Donna Martin (Tim) of Severna Park; and 8 step-grandchildren. David is also survived by his loving nieces Amy Meeks (Steve) and their children Cooper & Addison; and Mandy Dorsey (Jonathan) and their children Aven, Ashton, and Lanah.
Family and friends may visit on Monday, May 13, 2024, from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM at Barranco Severna Park Funeral Home & Cremation Care, P.A., 495 Ritchie Highway, Severna Park, MD 21146.
