David Leslie Dittmar passed away on May 5th after a long battle with illness.
He was born to Leslie Dittmar and Mildred (nee Buenger) Dittmar on December 1, 1953 in Annapolis, MD. He grew up in Arnold, MD and attended Belvedere Elementary, Severna Park Junior High School, Severna Park High School, and Anne Arundel Community College. David lived in Millersville and settled in Severna Park where he built his family with his wife Pamela, after they were married on April 13, 1985. David worked at Severna Park Bowling Lanes, and when he began his career as an electrician he worked for L and P Electrical Contractors, then he was self-employed at Light & Power Inc., and finally he worked for himself again, as D. Dittmar, LLC.
David's Catholic faith was very important to him, and he was a member of St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church. David was also a member of the Knights of Columbus.
David was always willing to lend someone a hand and help, even and especially when he was sick. He loved being outdoors. He enjoyed camping and biking. His favorite games to play were playing Triple Yahtzee with his daughter and figuring out Sudoku puzzles. He enjoyed watching the Orioles, the Ravens, and most especially the Terrapins play. His favorite pastimes also included watching Stargate SG-1 and spending time with family and friends.
David is survived by his wife of 38 years, Pamela Dittmar of Severna Park, MD; his son Jonathan Dittmar of Severna Park, MD; his daughter Melissa Dittmar of Severna Park, MD; his sister Paula Gertz of Glen Burnie, MD; his nephews Matthew Stephens of Baltimore, MD, Andrew Gertz (Laura) of Perry Hall, MD, and Steven Kruger (Ashley) of Severna Park, MD; and his sisters in law Jennifer Sherman (Jeffrey) of Chevy Chase, MD, and Nicola Sanchez of Shepherdstown, WV.
Friends and family may visit on Friday May 12, 2023 from 2:00pm-4:00pm & 6:00pm-8:00pm at Barranco Severna Park Funeral Home & Cremation Care, P.A. 495 Ritchie Highway Severna Park MD, 21146. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday May 13th at 10am at St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, 689 Ritchie Highway Severna Park MD 21146, with burial following the mass at Glen Haven Memorial Park, 7215 Ritchie Highway, Glen Burnie MD 21061.
