David L. Darling, Jr., 89, a resident of Severna Park since 1967, died on May 30, 2011 at home.

He was born July 27, 1921 in Mahan, WV and was a graduate of Montgomery High School in Montgomery, WV.

He served in the U.S. Army during WWII in Europe and the Pacific.

For over 40 years, Mr. Darling worked with CSX Railroad and retired as a Data Processing Supervisor.

He was a member of the American Legion, a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and a 50 year member of the MacDonald Warren Masonic Lodge # 103 in Mount Hope, WV. He was an avid golfer.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Lillie Mae Darling (nee Robinson); his son, Donald L. Darling (Beverly) of Brecksville, Ohio; his daughter, Karen S. Louder of Severna Park; one granddaughter, April Darling; one grandson, Christopher Riggi; and one brother, Jerry Darling of Rocklin, CA.

Family and friends may visit on Thursday, June 2, 2011 from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm at Barranco & Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, June 3, 2011 at 11:00 AM at College Parkway Baptist Church, 301 College Parkway, Arnold, MD 21012. Interment will be in Lakemont Memorial Gardens in Davidsonville, MD.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of the Chesapeake, 445 Defense Hwy, Annapolis, MD 21401 and the American Cancer Society, 1041 Rt 3 N, Building A , Gambrills, MD 21054.
