On May 12, 2024, John David Butner, 76, of Arnold, MD, passed away suddenly.  David was born in Brooklyn, NY, the son of John and Mildred Butner  and stepson of Mary Butner.

David is survived by his wife Karen, who he married almost 54 years ago and his daughters, Jennifer and Kristin and his granddaughter Keegan as well as his sister Diane and his nephew Shane, his sister-in-law Linda Miller and his step brother Bill and wife Chickie, step sister Barbara and husband Hugh, step sister Alice and husband Jim, step sister Kathy and husband David as well as his sister MaryJane and brother Tom who predeceased him.

David graduated from Franklin Pierce University and went on to work at Giant Food for over 30 years, after retiring he joined SCORE and enjoyed helping people start and improve their businesses as well as meeting many friends.  David was an active member of the YMCA and met many friends there that he enjoyed talking to and recruited them to SCORE.

David was an avid walker and a huge fan of the NY Mets, NY Giants, Naval Academy sports and his daughter Jennifer got him to root for the Univ of Alabama.  In his retirement he loved gardening and growing beautiful plants.

He will be missed dearly by all those that knew him, especially his smile which would light up the room

Family and friends may visit on Tuesday May 21, 2024 from 4:00pm-7:00pm at Barranco Severna Park Funeral Home & Cremation Care, P.A. 495 Ritchie Hwy Severna Park, MD 21146. Services will be held on Wednesday May 22, 2024 at 10:00am at the Mariner's Church 1857 Ritchie Annapolis, MD 21409. Interment at Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
