Darrell Lee "DG" Jett Sr. of Gambrills, Maryland died Sunday, July 9, 2017 at the Hospice of the Chesapeake in Pasadena Maryland.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years Marie Jett, and three children Jennifer Cavin of Crofton, Maryland, Kimberly Jett of Los Angeles, California and Darrell "Chip" Jett Jr. of Concord, North Carolina. He is also survived by four granddaughters, Kara Ann Grosbach, Chloe Michelle Cavin, Lilia Eva Jett and Ailsa Hannah Jett.

He served as a Sergeant in the US Air Force working with communications.

He retired from Verizon in 2001 as an electrical engineer after 36 years of service. He was a member of AMVETS and Howard L Turner American Legion Post 276.

Darrell loved working with children; was the leader of his daughters Girl Scout troop, the assistant leader of his son's Boy Scout troop and loved volunteering at Arlington Echo with his children's school and at Nantucket Elementary School where his granddaughter attended.

He loved the outdoors; camping, fishing, canoeing and going to the beach.

He was an avid Redskins fan.

Friends may view on Sunday July 16, 2017 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. in the Barranco & Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home 495 Ritchie Hwy. Severna Park, MD 21146. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday July 17, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in the Nichols-Bethel United Methodist Church 1239 Murray Rd. Odenton, MD 21113. Interment will be held in the MD Veterans Cemetery Crownsville, MD at 1pm.  After the interment family and friends are welcome to return to Nichols-Bethel United Methodist Church for food and refreshments 2-4pm.
