Daniel McDonald
Retired Army Command Sgt. Major Daniel Henry McDonald, 69, a resident of Arnold for 18 years, died of cancer March 31 in his home after a lengthy illness.
Sgt. Major McDonald was born Sept. 12, 1938, in Brooklyn, N.Y., to the late Andrew and Loretta McDonald, and was raised in Brooklyn.
He retired from the Army after 34 years of service, while stationed at Fort George G. Meade. He served in the Vietnam War, and was stationed at many locations across the U.S. and internationally.
He was a member of American Legion Post 175, the E-9 Association at Fort Meade, and was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Nancy L. McDonald; three sons, Daniel E. McDonald of Fayetteville, N.C., David E. McDonald of Glen Burnie, and Dale E. McDonald of Arnold; and three grandchildren.
Family and friends may visit from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway.
A Mass of Christian burial will be offered at 1 p.m. Monday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 689 Ritchie Highway, Severna Park.
Interment will be in the Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville.
