Daniel Jones
Daniel Uriah Jones, 73, a resident of Oxford for 12 years, died of a stroke Jan. 22 in his home after a brief illness.
Mr. Jones was born April 18, 1934, in Brentwood and was raised in Hyattsville.
He worked for 20 years for the City of Hyattsville, and he retired as the Director of Public Works.
He served in the Marine Corps from 1953 to 1957.
He enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing and life on the Chesapeake Bay.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dolores Jones; one daughter, Donna Jones-Moritsugu; and one grandson.
Survivors include three daughters, Cynthia Stambaugh of Severna Park, Sharon Chartos of Bowie and Carol A. Jones of Upper Marlboro; and four grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. tomorrow at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 6600 Laurel Bowie Road in Bowie.
Interment will be in Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton. Arrangements are by Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to Waterfowl Festival, 40 S. Harrison St., Easton, MD 21601 or to the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, 6 Herndon Ave., Annapolis, MD 21403.
