IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Cyrus L.
Nelson
May 21, 1946 – November 29, 2025
On Saturday November 29, 2025 Cyrus Lane Nelson age 79 of Pasadena passed away peacefully. Loving father of Catherine Pelura (Nelson) and husband Anthony Pelura and Jason Nelson and wife Erin Nelson. Cherished grandfather of Isabella, Aidan, Lane, Alec, Iain & Rhys. Dear brother of Brenda and husband Charles O’Halloran. He was predeceased by his wife Angela and his parents C.H. Nelson and Brooksie Dortch.
Born in Martin, Tennessee and raised in Chicago, Illinois Cyrus enlisted in the United States Air Force after high school. He served 21 years in the Air Force. While stationed in England he met and married the love of his life Angela, born and raised in Co. Mayo, Ireland. The two shared 50 wonderful years of marriage until her passing in 2021. Together they built a loving family and traveled the world creating countless memories and a lifetime of companionship. After his retirement from the Air Force he founded a cost analysis company with several friends and later went on to partner with his son -in-law, Tony to form Nelson and Pelura accounting.
A true lover of sports especially premier league soccer. Cyrus was a beloved coach to several youth soccer teams over the years including an all star team and years later assistant coach of a pee wee soccer team. If he wasn’t coaching, he was on the side lines cheering for his grandkids, hardly ever missing a game or competition. Fishing and hunting were some of his favorite times in nature. As well as playing poker and cooking.
Cyrus will be deeply missed, his legacy will live on in the hearts of everyone who had the privilege to call him family or friend. We take comfort knowing he is reunited with his beloved Angela.
