Amazing woman and mother Cu Beth Sharretts passed away April 5, 2021 at 94 years old in Severn, Maryland. Cu lived in Anne Arundel County for the past 50 years and was born and raised in Fountain City, Tennessee where she attended Central High School class of 1945, graduate of V.T. Knoxville with a Bachelors of music education and science. Cu also belonged to the Curtis Institute of Music, performed the lead role in UTK first performance of "Carmen". After graduating college she worked in the laboratories of Y-12 in Oakridge Tennessee and quickly won multiple awards for voice competitions such as American federation of music and Horace Heidt semi classical soloists with a one year tour with the HH Orchestra. In 1955 she sang the lead with the Wagoner Opera Company of New York in multiple operas including "Carmen", "Madame Butterfly" and "Marriage of Figaro". In 1956 she was in Atlanta Georgia Opera Company singing lead in Tosca and Cavelleria Rusticans. She went onto long-term contracts in New York City with the metropolitan opera and the Neapolitan singing groups touring all over America through the late 1960s. She married and settled with her husband in 1970 in Arnold, Maryland where they began a Music as Therapy program under AACCs continuing education department taking music into nursing homes senior centers and retirement homes throughout Anne Arundel and Baltimore Counties until 2016.
Always with a smile and a laugh, Cu Beth directed church choirs, taught voice and piano lesson and mentored anyone interested in music over 80 years. Her passions were education, music and family all done to glorify her God. She lived her life abundantly well.
She was preceded in death by her parents JH and Lilian Gresham, brothers John R Gresham and Herron Hall Gresham (Joyce) of Knoxville, Tennessee, husband Richard W Sharretts and son in law Doug Peterson. She is survived by son David Ross (Linda), son Richard Sharetts and daughter Cu Peterson, granddaughters Jessica Garrett (Michael) and Jaime and Jordan Peterson and great granddaughter Kailani Garrett.

Services will be held at Stevens Mortuary in Knoxville, Tennessee.
