Concetta Marie Rutkowski "Connie" Jones, 43, a resident of Severna Park since 1998, died of leukemia May 12 at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore after an 18-month illness.
Born Sept. 11, 1962, in Long Island, N.Y., Mrs. Jones graduated from St. John's University in Jamaica, N.Y. She was a former resident of San Diego, Calif., Beaufort, S.C., Sycamore, Ill., and Houston, Texas.
Mrs. Jones was considered a dedicated teacher, her family said. She was an athletic department academic advisor and senior class sponsor and taught social studies at Glen Burnie and Chesapeake high schools.
Her interests included the water, boating and travel.
Surviving are one daughter, Genevieve Leigh Jones, and two sons, David Taylor Jones and Samuel Eversfield Jones, all of Severna Park; two brothers, Ben Galleta of Levittown, N.Y., and Joel Rutkowski of Bristol, Pa.; and her mother, Theresa Aranello of Levittown.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. tomorrow at Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 689 Ritchie Highway in Severna Park. Burial will follow in Lakemont Memorial Gardens in Davidsonville.
