Retired Air Force Colonel Bernard L. Casey, 84, of Millersville, Maryland died April 15, 2013 at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center.

Raised in Rockland, Massachusetts, Col. Casey was a graduate of Wichita University, Kansas where he received his Bachelor Degree and ROTC Commission. He earned a Master's Degree from Wayne State University, Michigan in 1975.

Col. Casey served in the Air Force for over 26 years as a communications electronics officer assigned to various posts in the United States, Europe and Vietnam. He was a graduate of the Air War College and finished his military career with the National Security Agency. He also served in the US Navy from 1946 to 1948 and was a reserve officer in both the Navy and Air Force prior to his active duty career service in the Air Force.

He retired from the Air Force in July 1986 and then spent several years employed in the defense telecommunications industry.

He is survived by his wife, Kathleen Griffin Casey, and their three children; Mark L. Casey, and wife Cathy Jo of Spring Branch, Texas, Kathleen L. Casey of Arlington, Virginia and Michael L. Casey of Millersville, Maryland. He is also survived by his two sisters, Loretta Whalen of Whitman, Massachusetts, and Madelyn Burke of West Bridgewater, Massachusetts.

Family and friends may gather at 10:15 am on Monday, July 8, 2013 at Ft. Meyer Memorial Chapel, 101 McNair Road, Arlington VA 22211 for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:45 am followed by interment at Arlington National Cemetery. A reception will follow the burial at the Women's Memorial at Arlington.
