Clement Ferdinand Heverly III, 75, an Arnold resident since 1971, died of heart failure April 7 at Harbour Hospital Center in Baltimore after a brief illness.
Born in Upper Darby, Pa., Mr. Heverly graduated from Collingswood High School in New Jersey in 1949. He attended Muhlenburg College in Allentown, Pa., and graduated from St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minn., with a degree in sacred music and a second major in Spanish. He also held a degree in public school music.
He served in the Army during the Korean conflict as a chaplain's assistant.
He taught Portugese and Spanish in Illinois, Wisconsin and locally at Severna Park High School and the Severn School. He also served as organist in many churches in Anne Arundel and Baltimore counties.
Survivors include his wife, Marilou Heverly of Arnold; one daughter, Erica Campbell of Glen Burnie; one son, Paul Heverly of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla; one sister, Barbara Ryan of Radnor, Pa; 11 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. tomorrow at Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Gloria Dei! Lutheran Church, Arnold. Burial will be in Maryland Veteran's Cemetery in Crownsville.
