Clarence "Sonny" L. Brookhart, 84, a long time resident of Severna Park, died on May 20, 2009 at Baltimore Washington Medical Center in Glen Burnie, after a brief illness, due to natural causes.

He was born on September 25, 1924 in Baltimore, MD, where he was raised. He has lived in Severna Park for the past 41 years.

Mr. Brookhart graduated from the University of Baltimore with a degree in Business. He was a retired purchasing manager from Staley Machinery Company.

He served in the US Air Force during WWII in the Pacific Theatre.

Mr. Brookhart enjoyed fishing, playing cards and the slots, and going to the beach. He was an avid Ravens and Orioles fan and reader. He loved spending time with his friends and family, and especially his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Jane Brookhart of Severna Park, MD; his daughter, Patricia Heathcote of Crofton, MD; and two grandchildren.

A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, May 28, 2009 from 4-7 pm at Barranco & Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Gov. Ritchie Hwy in Severna Park.
A Chapel Service will be held on Friday, May 29, 2009 at 10:45 AM at the MD Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville, MD.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1041 Rt 3 N, Building A, Gambrills, MD 21054.
