Clara Elizabeth Helferstay nee Hibline, 80, a 44-year resident of Severna Park, died Oct. 24 of cancer at her home.

She was born March 13, 1929, in Baltimore, and raised in South Baltimore.

She graduated in 1947 from Southern High School. She was a homemaker and bookkeeper for the family business, Harbour Liquors.

She was a member of Glen Lutheran Church where she also taught Sunday School.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Helferstay, whom she married on December 10, 1948.

Survivors include one son, Jeffrey Helferstay of Severna Park; three daughters, Gail Helferstay of Severna Park, Susan Taylor of Annapolis and Patti O'Neil of Cockeysville; and 6 grandchildren.

Family and friends are invited from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, Oct. 26 to Barranco and Sons P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 27 at Glen Lutheran Church in Glen Burnie. Interment in Glen Haven Memorial Park.
