Christopher John Reilly, beloved son of William and Anne Reilly, dear brother of Kathleen Reilly DiBlasi, and William, Timothy, Matthew, Daniel, and Thomas, and loving Father of Christina and Nicole Reilly, died from complications of Stomach Cancer on March 19, 2011 at the University of Maryland Cancer Center in Baltimore, Maryland.
Christopher was born in Mineola, Long Island, New York on March 28, 1960. During his adolescent years, Christopher and his brothers and sister spent a year in Colombia, South America where he acquired a lasting love of Spanish as his second language. Chris, along with brothers and sister, with the cooperation of the Bishop of Buenaventura, was an active participant in a School Lunch program which his family established for the about 300 children of stevedores in Buenaventura, Columbia.
Despite an onslaught of Bi-Polar illness which plagued him during his entire life, Christopher persevered, overcoming many obstacles, and attended two years at the University of Florida where he received an Associate Degree in Agricultural Engineering and received his degree in Agricultural Horticulture at Delaware Valley College in 1985. He used these skills and his mastery of Spanish to assist in many endeavors on behalf of the Latin American community both in New York where he lived with his parents and then, commencing about 25 years ago, in Anne Arundel County, Maryland. While living in Maryland, he also worked with the Physically Challenged using his horticultural skills in numerous therapy sessions.
Christopher was a third degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Severna Park branch and also was a communicant at St. Johns Evangelist Catholic Church in Severna Park.
A memorial visitation will be held 6-8 pm on Tuesday, March 29 at Barranco & Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Hwy, 21146. A Memorial Mass will take place at St. John the Evangelist Church at 11 am Wednesday, March 30, 2011, 689 Ritchie Hwy, 21146.
