Charlotte Peggy Poiter Pless, 86, of Anne Arundel County, died June 13 of congestive heart failure at Hospice of the Chesapeake, Tate House.

She was born October 8, 1922, in Fort Smith, Ark. She moved from Pinckneyville, Ill., to Anne Arundel County in 1941 with her first husband, where she was a devoted mother, confidant and homemaker to her surviving eight children. After raising her children, and upon the death of her first husband, she remarried, and developed interests in macrame, studying German, dancing, travel and exploring her Catholic religion.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, John Poiter.

Survivors include her husband of 25 years, Frank Pless; three sons, John Joseph Poiter of Anne Arundel County, Gerard Edward Poiter of Phoenix, Michael Thomas Poiter of Frederick; five daughters, Mary Anne Diez, Charlotte Denise Jones, Dolores Lynne Wood-Bell, and Peggy Thecla Matters, all of Anne Arundel County and Kathleen Lucille Feaga of Houston, Texas; 18 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Family and friends may visit from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, June 16 at Barranco and Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway in Severna Park. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 17 at the Church of the Good Shepherd, 1451 Furnace Avenue, Glen Burnie, MD 21061.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Church of the Good Shepherd.
