Charles Joseph Sullivan, Jr. passed away on March 6, 2023, he was 87 years old.
Charles was born on November 23, 1936 to Charles J. Sullivan, Sr. and Rose Fitzmorris Sullivan in Washington D.C. He grew up in our nation's capital, with his three siblings, Jack, Rosemary, and Ellen.
Charles attended Mount Saint Mary's College in Emmitsburg, MD and earned his Bachelors in Economics in 1958, and went on to attend Georgetown University Law Center and earn his Juris Doctor Degree in 1961. Charles opened the Law offices of Charles J. Sullivan Jr. in 1963 and then became a partner of Sullivan & Sullivan from 1988-2006. Charles joined the District of Columbia Air National Guard in 1961 and retired in 1993 as a Colonel. He was Assistant Attorney General, State of Maryland, Special Attorney, State Roads Commission from 1964-1968. He was Assistant Judge Advocate General of the United States Air Force from 1968-1970 and a member of the Maryland House of Delegates from 1971-1979.
Charles became a member of the Maryland Bar in 1963, the U.S. District Court for The District of Maryland in 1967, the United Sates Supreme Court in 1968 and the United States Military Court of Appeals in 1968.
Charles was a member of the Prince George's County Bar Association from 1963 to the present.
Charles robustly enjoyed racketball, golf and yachting. He was the devoted and greatly loved husband of Cynthia DeGiustino-Sullivan.
He is survived by this wife Cynthia DeGiustino-Sullivan, and his sisters Rosemary McLaughlin and Ellen Arrascada.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated on Monday March 11, 2024 at 10:30am at St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church 689 Ritchie Hwy Severna Park, MD 21146. Interment with honors will take place on Tuesday March 12, 2024 at 1:00pm at Lakemont Memorial Gardens Cemetery Davidsonville, MD.
