Charles Franklin Poole
Charles "Frank" Poole, 96, of Annapolis, MD died at his home on November 10, 2008 due to natural causes.
Mr. Poole was born on September 3, 1912 in Baltimore, MD, where he was also raised. In addition, Mr. Poole lived in Glen Burnie, MD for 28 years prior to living in Annapolis.
Mr. Poole took a leave of absence from his position at General Motors to enlist in the U.S. Army in early 1945. Mr. Poole was Baltimore City's first Records Management Officer from 1952 until his retirement in 1977.
He began playing golf in his retirement and continued to play until the summer of 2008. He was especially proud of his hole in one and of shooting his age when he was 81. Mr. Poole also enjoyed spending time with his family-especially at Bethany Beach- and carpentry, building his own home.
Survivors include his wife of 73 years, Matilda Poole of Annapolis; his four daughters, Carol E. Chance of Baltimore, MD, Virginia L. Kulinski of Delta, PA, Cynthia E. Wroldsen of Tucker, GA and Lois J. Gareis of Arnold, MD; as well as, 9 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday at Barranco & Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home from 2-4 & 6-8 pm. A funeral service will be held on Thursday at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Annapolis at 11:00. The interment will follow at St. Margaret's Episcopal Church Cemetery.
