Charles E. Nolte of Severna Park, Maryland, died suddenly of a heart attack on Dec. 1, 2015 at age 79. He was married to Susan Kendall Nolte for 59 years. Their son, David, lives in the same community, Fair Oaks, with his wife, Kathy, and their children Alex and Anna. Their daughter, Linda Nolte Blankenship, and her husband John live in Bartlett, Tennessee. His sister, Joy Nolte Brumfield, and her husband Jim live in Phoenix, Maryland. Prior to living in Severna Park, he lived in Springfield, VA and in Rockville, MD. While in Springfield, he served as president of a community association with more than 500 homes.
He attended McDonogh School in Baltimore for 12 years and then graduated from Washington & Lee University in Lexington, Virginia. After 2 years in the Army he joined The Leaman Company/KLF Food Brokers where he worked for 37 years and became a partner/owner and also served as CEO. Charlie was President of the Baltimore/Washington Food Brokers Association and the Grocery Manufacturers Representatives.
After he retired he worked for several years with his wife Susan in real estate. He also served since 1998 as his community representative to the Magothy River Association which nominated him for an ASPIRE Community Leadership Award. He served on the Greater Severna Park Council and the Watershed Action Group and was a member of Severna Park United Methodist Church, Chartwell Country Club and The Annapolis Yacht Club.
For a number of years he played the piano at Sunrise Senior Living where the residents joined in singing along. He also played the piano for a number of local charity events. He loved boating on the Magothy River and putting up model train displays in his home. He also loved his neighborhood community where he set up tennis and golf outings, planned monthly luncheons for retirees and received great joy in regular walks where he greeted and socialized with all he met.
Charlie was a wonderful person who cared deeply about his family, friends and neighbors. He made everyone feel special. Every day he thanked God for his many blessings. He was well loved and respected throughout his business career and his life.
A Memorial Service will be held on Sat., Jan. 2, 2016 at 10:00 am at Severna Park United Methodist Church, 731 Benfield Rd., Severna Park, MD, 21146. A reception will follow at Chartwell Country Club, 1 Chartwell Drive, Severna Park. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Partners In Care, 90B Ritchie Highway, Pasadena, MD, 21122.
