Charles Elzy Hoover, "Chuck", 84, a resident of Arnold, died February 21 of kidney failure at Hospice of the Chesapeake.

He was born December 20, 1932 in Dearborn, Michigan and was raised in the Severna Park area. He was in the first graduating class of Arundel High School, Gambrills, MD, and graduated in 1963 with honors from Southeastern University with a Bachelor of Business Administration.

He worked in the intelligence field for National Security Agency, Ft. Meade, MD, from 1952 to 1987. Chuck enjoyed travelling, working on anything mechanical, restoring cars, fishing and crabbing in the Chesapeake Bay. He was very involved with Girl and Boy Scouts and Indian Guides with his wife, daughter, sons and grandsons. He was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church, Arnold.

Chuck is predeceased in death by his wife Lucille, son David, sister Jane Peach and his parents Mary and Alto Hoover. He is survived by a daughter Deborah (Mike) Schulze of Montross, VA; son Charles (Claudia) Hoover of Elbert, CO; grandchildren Bill (Paula) Schulze, Stephen Hoover, Jesse (Lydia) Hoover, Christine Schulze, Christopher (Joanne) Schulze, Jason (Danielle) Schulze, and 12 great grandchildren.

Family and friends may visit from 5 to 9 pm on Friday, February 24, 2017 at Barranco & Sons P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Richie Hwy, Severna Park. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, February 25 at Asbury United Methodist Church, 78 Church Road, Arnold. Interment will be in Fort Lincoln Cemetery in Brentwood following the funeral service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Chesapeake, 90 Richie Highway, Pasadena, MD 21122.
