Charles Stanley Haas III, 46, of Glen Burnie, died of heart failure and cancer at his home Nov. 15 after a lengthy illness.
Mr. Haas was born in Glen Burnie on Sept. 2, 1960, and was reared in Arnold, attending Belvedere Elementary School and graduating in 1978 from Severna Park High School. He was a third generation waterman, working with the family business, Haas Seafood, in Arnold.
He was a well-known flower designer who owned and operated Special Occasions Florist. After selling his business, he continued as a floral designer with Benfield Florist.
An avid bowler since his youth, he belonged to several leagues at Severna Park Lanes. He also was a gourmet cook who was known for his crab cakes. He enjoyed catering events for his church, The Church of the Crucifixion in Glen Burnie, where he was a member of the Communion of Saints, and for the Annapolis Elks. He also belonged to the Knights of Columbus. His favorite pastime was spending time with his friends.
Surviving are three sisters, Monica Haas, Catherine Wirth and Donna Randazzo, all of Arnold; one brother, David Webb of Wilmington, N.C.; and several nieces and nephews. He was the son of the late Pauline Schriefer Haas and Charles S. Haas Jr.
Visitation is from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow and Sunday at Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway. Services will be at Church of the Cruxifixion, 100 Scott Ave., Glen Burnie, at 10 a.m. Monday. Burial will be in Our Lady of the Fields Catholic Church Cemetery, 1070 Cecil Ave., Millersville.
