Claypool
August 29, 1924 – February 3, 2021
On February 3rd, 2021, Charles (Chuck) Glenn Claypool of Severna Park, passed away peacefully with his family by his side. He was 96.
Born on August 29th, 1924 to Bernice and Keith Claypool in Cedar Falls, IA, he grew up in Minneapolis, Minnesota. At the age of 17 he joined the military and was honored and proud to serve his country in WWII as a Medic in the European theatre. He received the Purple Heart and Silver Star medal of gallantry.
After the war, he met his wife, Vivian Vilhauer (deceased), and eventually moved to California to work in sales for Caterpillar Tractor. He later moved his family across the country to Severna Park, MD to pursue a new position with Alban Tractor Company where he enjoyed a very successful career as governmental sales manager.
He had a wonderful social life and was a member of the Masons, the Moose, Fleet Reserve, Annapolis Yacht Club, DAV, as well as the D.C. Hand Dance Club. He enjoyed dancing, boating, playing the drums and socializing with his many friends and neighbors.
A generous man, he is survived by his son, Jeffrey Claypool, and son and daughter in law, David and Leslie Claypool, two grandchildren, Ashley and Savannah Claypool, one great grand-daughter, nieces and nephews Barbara (Claypool), Minh, Tim, and Kate Transon. He is also survived by his loving friend and companion, Geraldine Storey.
