Charles Harrison Christie Jr., 78, a 41-year resident of Severna Park, died Oct. 4 at Severna Park Center, Genesis ElderCare Network, after a brief illness.
Born Aug. 15, 1927, in Butler, Pa., the son of the late Dorothy F. and Charles H. Christie, Mr. Christie earned a degree in business administration from Drexel University in Philadelphia, where he was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity.
He served in the Army during World War II and Korean War.
During his long business career, he was a manager for the former Westinghouse Electric Co. in Linthicum.
He was an active member of the Severna Park Kiwanis Club for 35 years, and served as president and lieutenant governor for the Kiwanis Capital District. He was also involved with the Severna Park Elks and other community service organizations and projects.
Surviving are his wife, Barbara Christie, whom he married Sept. 18, 1954; one son, William Fletcher Christie of Glen Burnie; one daughter, Carolyn C. Popivchak of Millersville; one brother, William F. Christie of Southern Shores, N.C.; and two granddaughters.
Visitation is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway, Severna Park, where services will be held at 10 a.m. tomorrow. Burial will be in Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville.
