Charles W. Banks, Jr, 81, passed away on November 22, 2023 at Anne Arundel Medical Center after a heroic battle against pulmonary fibrosis. He was surrounded by his wife Judith (Jones) of 52 years and all four of their children, Jeffrey Banks (Susan) , Jennifer Hall (Geoff), Julie Antinucci (DJ), and Joshua Banks (Casey). Charles was born in Baltimore, the only child of Charles & Loretta Banks on November 24, 1941. He married Judy, the love of his life on April 22, 1972. They lived in Owings Mills and Glen Burnie, before settling in Arnold, Maryland, where they raised their four kids. In 2013, they downsized and moved to Cedar Ridge in Odenton and enjoyed the condo life.
Chuck graduated from City High School, worked briefly at Bethlehem Steel (at the dismay of his parents) before pursuing a career in the import/export business with Shapiro & Co in 1962 and later with Air Freight International and BWI Corporation. In 1973, he opened his own import/export business, Banks Air Freight Services at BWI Airport and operated that business for 14 years. He worked for BWI Corporations in 1992 until his retirement in 2006.
Chuck is survived by his wife, and children and his 12 grandchildren: Natalie, Lauren, Kelly, Emma, Kevin, Molly, Sara, Joseph, Domenic, Lola, Olivia, and Wyatt.
Family and friends may visit on Thursday, November 30, 2023 from 2-4 pm & 6-8 pm at Barranco Severna Park Funeral Home & Cremation Care, P.A., 495 Ritchie Highway, Severna Park, MD 21146. MD 21146. To honor Chuck's casual lifestyle and his love of sports and baseball hats, we invite anyone at the visitation to wear your favorite sports team or service jersey or hat, especially Ravens, Orioles and Severna Park High School.
A funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Friday, December 1, 2023 at 10 am.
A private Interment will follow at the Parkwood Cemetery at 3310 Taylor Avenue in Baltimore, MD.
