Charles B. Baker passed away March 2, 2023. Beloved husband for 62 years to the late Anne D. Baker, nee Miller. Born in Baltimore on December 10, 1930 to the late James B. and Mary Agnes Baker. Predeceased by his son-in-law Trey Smith. Survived by his children, Kathy (Ken) Smith Totushek, Chuck (Cruz) Baker, and Barbara (Steve) Nienhaus. Loving grandfather to, Kristen Smith, Julia Smith Simerly, Kimberly Smith Epler, Theoren Smith IV, Ellen Nienhaus Renner, Matthew Nienhaus, Patrick Nienhaus, Charles Baker III, James Baker, and twelve great-grandchildren. Graduated from both Loyola High School, 1948, and Loyola College, 1952. Commissioned in the US. Navy in 1953, active duty until 1956, Reserves until 1961. Retired after 33 years at The Chesapeake and Potomac Telephone Company, later Bell Atlantic and AT&T as a District Manager. A resident of the Charlestown Retirement Community, Catonsville, Maryland. He previously lived in Severna Park, Maryland, for many years. He enjoyed traveling, his condo in Ocean City, taking art appreciation classes at the Anne Arundel Community College, being a volunteer Income Tax Preparer at the O'Malley Senior Center, helping with both the St. John the Evangelist Boy Scout Troop 450 and counting the mass collections.
Family and friends may visit on Thursday, March 9, 2023 at Our Lady of the Angels Church, 711 Maiden Choice Ln, Catonsville, MD, 21228 from 10:00am to 11:00am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00am at church. Burial is to follow to Maryland Veterans Cemetery, 1122 Sunrise Beach Road, Crownsville, MD, 21032. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to www.amputee-coalition.org
