IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Catherine M.
"Kitty" Trently
November 28, 1939 – January 14, 2025
Catherine M. (Kitty) Trently of Severna Park, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 14, 2025. She was the cherished daughter of the late Ambrose and Dorothy Cremen.
Kitty was born in Baltimore, the oldest of seven children. She attended Mount St. Agnes High School & College, where she received a degree in history, but her true love was theatre and art. It was through this activity that she met her husband to be, John. They would marry in The Shrine of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Mt. Washington, in 1961. Kitty and John moved to Severna Park in 1964 and became members of St. John the Evangelist Church where they would remain devout Catholics for the next 60 years. They raised six children and were immersed in many community activities, including teaching catechism. Kitty was a Girl Scout leader and supported the Boy Scouts for decades. In 1977, the Trently family moved to Korea for a four-year tour. Kitty became a Director of Youth Activities for the DOD. In addition to the variety of programs she provided, she spent time mentoring young adults, many of whom would call her "Mom." Kitty enjoyed arts & crafts, gardening, animals, reading, and collecting recipes. But her family was her life – She enjoyed get togethers, trips to the beach, camping, and traveling with them.
Kitty is survived by her devoted husband of 63 years, John Sr., and her loving children: Michael of Glen Burnie, Kevin (Trish) of Magnolia, Delaware, John (Hope) of Chestertown, Mary Tawes (Gary) of Severna Park, Jennifer Kostolni (Jeff) of Abingdon, and James of Severna Park.
Her legacy lives on through her 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Kitty is also survived by her brother Matthew and her sisters Dorothy Rankin and Mary Ann Lord (Gordon).
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Beau and Richard; her sister, Jane Cole; and her daughter-in-law, Debby (Kevin).
Kitty's kindness, love, and devotion to her family and friends will be remembered forever. She will be missed dearly by all her family.
