It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Cary D. Jones, who departed this life too soon on 9/30/25. Though gone from our sight, Cary's incredible legacy lives on through the countless memories he created with family, friends, and colleagues over the course of his amazing life.

A proud and devoted patriot, Cary served our country with distinction for 39 years in government service, followed by many years as a trusted consultant. He was a respected leader, a mentor to many, and a man of unwavering integrity and humor. A proud Army veteran, Cary proudly displayed the American flag and his red, white, and blue wardrobe was a testament to his love of country.

Cary's life was as full as it was inspiring. He was a guitarist, hunter, boater, fisherman, photographer, history buff, avid reader, and Elvis impersonator. He generously shared his talents at nursing homes, private events, and Fleet Reserve Club celebrations in Annapolis, MD. For more than 35 years, he and his wife Pat could be found dancing the night away every Friday night with friends at the Fleet.

Born on July 6, 1947, in Johnstown, PA, Cary was the son of the late William and Elizabeth Jones, and was predeceased by his brother, Ronald Jones.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 55 years, Patricia (Petrosky) Jones, and his devoted daughters, Jennifer (O'Sullivan) and Carrie Jones, who shared in caring for him throughout his courageous battle with cancer. Also surviving are his dedicated son-in-law and hunting buddy, James O'Sullivan, who provided all transportation to the many appointments and much needed moral support; and Carrie's partner, Donald Kessler, who assisted in many and varied ways; granddaughters Kate and Sandra O'Sullivan—whom he cherished deeply.

Cary is also lovingly remembered by his brothers- and sisters-in-law: James and Becky Petrosky, Diane and Steve Wilson, Nancy and Ernie Fetzer, John Petrosky, Pete and Janice Schnably, and Sue and Chuck Shaw, along with many nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends and neighbors.

We would like to give special thanks to the staff of The Hospice of the Chesapeake for critical support during our time of greatest need.

Family and friends may visit on Saturday October 4th from 1:00-3:30pm at Barranco Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Hwy Severna Park MD, 21146, with a funeral service to begin at 3:30pm at the funeral home. The burial will be private, at the Crownsville Veterans Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers donations in Cary's memory may be made online to the Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center: https://www.hopkinsmedicine.org/kimmel-cancer-center/make-a-gift
