Carroll Linebaugh Jr.

Carroll O. Linebaugh Jr., 82, a 25-year resident of Davidsonville, died of renal failure Aug. 28 at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda after a lengthy illness.

Mr. Linebaugh was born Oct. 1, 1924, in Fairfield, Pa., where he was reared. He served in the Navy during World War II in the Pacific theater as a chief petty officer aboard submarines. He retired from the National Security Agency.

His hobbies included fishing and boating. He was a member of the Masons and Fleet Reserve for more than 50 years, as well as a member of the Navy League, the Association of Old Crows, the Shriners, Maryland Charter Boat Association, Maryland Watermen's Association, the National Cryptological Association, the Phoenix Association and American Legion Post 175.

He was the widower of Anne Catalano Linebaugh.

Surviving are two stepsons, Robert E. Johnson of St. Petersburg, Fla., and William C. Johnson of New Bern, N.C.; five step-grandchildren; and seven step-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway, where the funeral will be at 11 a.m. tomorrow. Burial will be at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday in the Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville.

The family has arranged an additional visitation for Carroll O. Linebaugh Jr., 82, of Davidsonville, to be held from 6 to 8 tonight at Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway.

Mr. Linebaugh died of renal failure Aug. 28 at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda after a lengthy illness.
