The world became a little bit darker when we lost Carrie Sullivan Emery (Vain) suddenly on October 31st. Carrie touched more lives than imaginable. She was a mom to all kids, a friend to everyone and truly the backbone of our family. We will forever miss her selfless love and the extraordinary light she brought to this world.

Carrie was born June 23, 1978 in Annapolis. She was a very joyful little girl raised in Arnold and stayed on the broadneck peninsula. She graduated from Broadneck high school in 1996 and earned her associates degree from  AACC. She worked in childcare for several years (Asbury preschool and the CDC) before becoming a wife and mother.

After high school she met the love of her life, Dane Emery, with whom she shared life for 25 years, husband and wife for 18 years. Dane and Carrie were inseparable and had an incredible bond. Her lifelong dream was to be a mom. She and Dane were blessed with two beautiful children, Isabella and Landon, who were her entire world. She was born to be a mom and made sure to make their lives full of the happiest memories. She always looked for ways to make their days better, planned all the fun activities, organizing things every step of the way. She was our superwoman.

She was a fierce mama bear to not only her own children but all of her friends' children. She was an authentic true friend to anyone she met and she truly cherished her friendships. She loved her family from the depths of her soul and it was felt by all. Her favorite pastimes were spent vacationing - being the Disney queen -  and most importantly, planning quality family time. She had a quick wit and a sense of humor that could cause you to cry with laughter. She took pride in loving and living life to the fullest.  Living life like Carrie is her legacy for all of us.

Left to grieve this immeasurable loss is her devoted and loving husband of 18 years, Dane Emery, her sweet-spirited daughter Isabella Emery (16), her kind-hearted son Landon Emery (13), her gentle and faithful pup, Winnie, her loving mom Joyce Vain (Calvin Vain), her best friend and sister Kristina Frischkorn (Dave Frischkorn), her loving father in law and mother in law Cary and June Emery, her loving nieces and nephews, Alex Donze, Max Donze, Christian Vain, Alicia Vain, Sarah Vain, Hope Vain, Erica Vain, Marjorie Frischkorn and Lily Frischkorn as well as her great niece and nephew Alaina and Preston Vain, many aunts, uncles, cousins, and a large group of friends that became family.

She was greeted in heaven by a big bear hug from her brother Todd Vain, and reunited with her dad, Calvin Vain Sr., both who passed before her and whom she missed every single day.  Her maternal (Edward and Catherine Curtian) and paternal (George and Sallie Vain) grandparents and aunts and uncles also passed before her.

Please come grieve and celebrate with Carrie's family, a life well lived but gone too soon.

Family and friends may visit on Wednesday November 6, 2024 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at Barranco Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Hwy Severna Park MD, 21146. Her funeral service will be held the following day at Barranco Funeral Home at 10:30 am, with burial to follow at Lakemont Memorial Gardens, 900 W Central Avenue Davidsonville MD, 21035.
