Carol Thomas Walker of Stevensville Maryland and Port St. Lucie Florida, passed away on October 11, 2012, surrounded by her family.

Carol was gracious, generous, loving, compassionate, caring and she dedicated her life to serving others. Nowhere were these traits more apparent than in the choices of her vocations and avocations; wife, mother, nurse and travel agent.

Carol graduated from Grady Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Atlanta, Georgia. During her nursing career, she worked at various hospitals in Atlanta as well as Baltimore before becoming an industrial nurse for McCormick & Company. While she enjoyed all aspects of nursing, her passion was home health care. She was one of the first two volunteer nurses for Hospice of the Chesapeake. Carol possessed the unique ability to emphasize with people which allowed her to establish a compassionate, nurturing relationship with her patients.
In mid-career, Carol decided she was ready for another challenge – life as a travel agent. It is difficult to decide which she enjoyed more, traveling with her husband Jim, family and friends or planning a client's dream vacation. She brought the same level of enthusiasm and energy to both. When she retired, Carol was the owner of Spanning the Globe Travel Agency, in Chester.
When Carol was not taking care of her family and friends, working at Spanning the Globe, or traveling the world, she could be found at regional and national dog shows with her Great Danes.

Carol is survived by her husband of 45 years, James Robert Walker, a son Chris (Brenda) Walker of Panama City, Panama, a daughter Laura (Skip) Thomas of Port St. Lucie, Florida and the lights of her life two grandchildren, Brandon and Anna Karina Walker of Panama City, Panama. She is also survived by her two sisters, Gail (C.W.) Baxter of Franklin, Tennessee and Marcia Gooch of Burlington, North Carolina.

The family would like to express their gratitude and appreciation to the staff of the Tate Cancer Center at Baltimore Washington Hospital and the Hospice of the Chesapeake for the exceptional care Carol received over the past three years.
