Carl M. Pickett, 87, a resident of Cape St. Claire for 25 years, died of natural causes Nov. 26 at the Anne Arundel Medical Center after a brief illness.
Mr. Pickett was born March 10, 1920, in Carroll County, Md., where he was reared. He was also a past resident of Randallstown, Haverford, Pa., Lakewood, Ohio, and Farmington, Conn.
He served in the Navy during World War II and was a survivor of the attack on Pearl Harbor. He later worked as a chief inspector for the Hartford Steam Boiler Inspection and Insurance Company.
His interests included gardening, boating, crabbing, fishing and travel. He was a member of the Severna Park Rotary Club and the Masonic Freedom Lodge in Sykesville.
His wife, Pearl Yohn Pickett, died in June 2006. Surviving are two sons, Ronald Pickett of Annapolis and David Pickett of Leesburg, Va.; one daughter, Susan Pickett Rodger of Severna Park; one sister, Margaret Golliday of Tallahassee, Fla.; two brothers, Norman Pickett of Westminster and Richard Pickett of Sykesville; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. tomorrow and from 10 to 11 a.m. on Friday at the Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway, Severna Park, where funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. Burial is private.
