Carl Kent Martin, 84, of Arnold, died Oct. 15 at Sunrise Assisted Living in Annapolis. He had Parkinson's disease.
Born June 24, 1922, in Huntington, W.Va., and reared in Washington, D.C., Mr. Martin moved to the Windsor Hills area in Baltimore in the late 1940s and later to Arnold.
He worked as a civil engineer for Environmental Elements and the Koppers Co. in Baltimore before retiring in the early 1970s.
He took flight instructions and loved flying, sailing, tennis and bicycling.
Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Gilda M. McClung Martin; one daughter, Margaret Joan Patton of Golden, Colo.; two sons, Michael M. Martin of Churchville in Harford County and David K. Martin of Crownsville; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services and burial are private, with arrangements by Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Parkinson Disease Association, Parkinson Plaza, 135 Parkinson Ave., Staten Island, NY 10305.
