Captain Thomas Joseph Colavito, U.S. Navy (Ret.), raised in Baldwin, New York, passed away on August 30, 2025, surrounded by his devoted family. Serving with honor and distinction in the United States Navy for 26 years, Captain Colavito dedicated his life to his country and to the sea. His quiet strength, steady leadership, and unwavering sense of duty earned him the deep respect of all who served with him.

In retirement in the Annapolis area of Maryland, Captain Colavito never strayed far from the water. He continued to spend countless hours on his boats where he was most at peace.

Beyond his naval career, Tom was faithfully committed to his family. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 62 years, Carole; his sister, Joan; four children—Elizabeth , Christine, Andrew, and Deborah; as well as 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

He will be remembered not only for his service, but for his kindness, humility, and the deep love he held for his family and the sea.

Fair winds and following seas, Captain Tom!

A service will be held for family and close friends.
