CAPT W. Scott Gray III, USN (Ret.) of Severna Park, MD, passed away, Thursday, July 7, 2016.
Scott was born February 2, 1928, was raised in New Castle, NH, and graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1952. A career Naval Aviator, he was qualified in numerous fighter and attack jet aircraft, flew 228 combat missions in Vietnam, and commanded two Navy attack squadrons. He was later recognized for his exceptional naval aviation career when selected to be a member of the Golden Eagles in 2005.
He is survived by his son CAPT W. Scott Gray IV, USN (Ret.) of Fairfax, VA; his son Mark E. Gray and his wife Deborah of Severna Park, MD; his daughter Elizabeth Ann Dail and her husband Rhett of Bowie, MD; and his grandchildren Haley Gray, Ryan Gray, Ally Gray, Ethan Dail, and Esabella Dail.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated on Friday July 15, 2016 at 12:00pm in the St. John Roman Catholic Church 689 Ritchie Hwy. Severna Park, MD 21146. Interment at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
