Chet Seto
CAPT, USN (Ret.)
Nov 25, 1954 — Sep 28, 2026
In Loving Memory of Capt. Chet Seto
Retired U.S. Navy Captain | Class of 1978, 13th Company P3 Pilot
It is with profound sadness that we share the news of the passing of Capt. Chet Seto on Monday, September 28, 2026. His loss was sudden and deeply felt by all who knew and loved him.
Chet was a devoted husband to Yolinde, a loving father to Heather and Tim, a proud stepfather to Lidia, Francis, Spyros and Gerard, a cherished father-in-law to Clare, Alina and Marianne, and a much-loved grandfather to Rhys, Alexa, Harvey, Ellie, Dexter and Sophia. He was also a treasured friend to many, touching countless lives throughout his journey.
A proud member of the Naval Academy Class of 1978, Chet retired from the Navy but never truly left it behind. He remained a Navy man through and through, passionately supporting the next generation of midshipmen by sponsoring them and cheering them on at football games with his ever-present rallying cry: "Beat Army!"
Navy squash was one of Chet’s greatest passions. He was deeply committed to the sport and worked tirelessly to encourage its growth, including helping establish a women’s squash league. Chet brought passion and determination to the things he believed in, always striving to turn his hopes into reality.
Yet there was so much more to Chet than his Navy career and sporting passions. He was funny, full of life and always ready for an adventure. He and his beloved Yolinde shared a wonderful love of travel and discovery, creating cherished memories and embracing life’s adventures together.
Chet also had an extraordinary love of food and took great pleasure in discovering and enjoying good meals. And, of course, he had perfected the art of falling asleep just about anywhere, always insisting that he was simply “resting his eyes”—a phrase that will surely bring a smile to the faces of all who knew him.
Above all, Chet loved his family and friends. He lived with passion, humour and enthusiasm, leaving behind countless memories and friendships that will be treasured forever.
His sudden passing leaves an immeasurable void in the lives of those who loved him. He will be deeply missed, but his spirit, laughter and love of life will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
In his memory, may we carry forward his generosity, his devotion to those he loved and his unwavering belief in the people and causes that mattered to him.
Memorial service details will be shared as soon as they are available.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly invites donations to the U.S. Naval Academy Alumni Association and Foundation in Chet’s memory: https://www.usna.com/give?fund=68080000. Every contribution will honour Chet’s generous spirit and help continue the work he cared about so deeply.
Fair winds and following seas, Chet. May your journey be peaceful, and may the love, laughter and memories you gave us remain as a guiding light. You will always be loved, forever remembered and never forgotten.
Beat Army!
