Calvin P. Evans
Calvin P. Evans, 88, of Severna Park, MD died at Tate Hospice House on January 1, 2009 due to complications of asbestos poisoning after a lengthy illness.
Mr. Evans was born on September 8, 1920 on Smith Island, where he was also raised. Mr. Evans also lived in Glen Burnie for over 30 years before moving to Severna Park 26 years ago.
Mr. Evans was a retired engine machinist from the Coast Guard Yard. He was the past owner and operator of O'Connor's Tavern. He served in the Navy during WW II. He was a member of the American Legion Post 175 and the Senior Center in Arnold. He enjoyed duck carving, working on boats, and spending time with his family.
Mr. Evans is survived by his wife Dorothy Evans whom he married on April 25, 1982; his daughters, Sharon Louise Humphries of Chester, MD and Edith Carol Lester of Lansdowne, MD; his sons, Calvin Wayne Evans of Severn, MD and Neil Bruce Evans of Port St. Lucie, FL; his stepson, Richard W. Preston of Mindoro, WI; his stepdaughter, Patricia Preston of Severna Park, MD; his sister, Rita Crockett of Crisfield, MD; two brothers, Norman Evans of Mississippi and Gordon Evans of Cape Coral, Fl; 19 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.
Friends are invited to visit on Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 at Barranco and Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday at 10:00 am with the interment to follow at Glen Haven Cemetery in Glen Burnie, MD.
