Dorothy Martin

Dorothy "Dot" Martin, 89, of Arnold, died of natural causes Aug. 30 at home where she lived with her nephew, Harry L. Martin, whom she reared.

Mrs. Martin was born Oct. 13, 1915, in Belcamp, Harford County, and reared in Baltimore. She moved to Stevensville in 1943, where she lived for 56 years. She retired from Gil Dunn's Kent Island Pharmacy and then enjoyed traveling the United States with her husband, Carlin E. "Scope" Martin, whom she married on Jan. 27, 1934. Mr. Martin died in October 1988.

She was a life member and secretary for the Ladies Auxiliary American Legion 278.

Surviving are one brother, William Elroy Rider of Baltimore; other nieces and nephews; and many great-nieces and great-nephews. She was the sister of the late Ruth Gohr.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway, where funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday. Burial will follow in Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Chesapeake, 445 Defense Highway, Annapolis, MD 21401 or American Legion Post 278, 800 Romancoke Road, Stevensville, MD 21666-2790.
