Bridget Freeberg
Bridget Anne "Breda" Freeberg, 58, of Annapolis, died Aug. 12 at her home after a lengthy illness.
Mrs. Freeberg was born Jan. 29, 1948, in County Wexford, Ireland, to Winifred and Daniel Flanagan, When she was 10 she and the family moved to London. Following the death of her mother when Mrs. Freeberg was 15 years old, she played a parental role to her five younger brothers.
She attended primary school at the Convent in Wexford in Buncoldy, Ireland, and received her secondary education at St. Georges in England. She received a TOPPS scholarship to the London Institute of Beauty Culture. After graduation she was employed at Harrod's department store as a beautician. She returned to the London Institute of Beauty Culture for advanced study in electrology and became an instructor at the institute.
On Dec. 20, 1978, she married U.S. Air Force Capt. Alfred George Freeberg. The couple spent time in Germany as well as Monterey, Calif., and York County, Va., before settling in Annapolis.
She established her own business, Arnold Electrology, initially opened in Arnold Station, and several years later moved to the Rick Shane Salon in Arnold.
She traveled extensively during her life to Spain, Belgium, Austria, Italy and Greece and New York City. She enjoyed snow skiing and entertaining friends and family.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Bernard Flanagan.
Surviving, in addition to her husband, a retired Air Force colonel, are two children, Daniel Freeberg of the home and Catherine Freeberg of Annapolis; her brothers, Donal, Gerard, Liam and Dermot Flanagan, and her sister, Margot Chan, all of London.
Visitation is from 4:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday followed by services at Barracno and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway. Burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery on Sept. 6, 2006.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a cancer and lymphoma society.
