Brian A. Smith, Realtor with Century 21 New Millennium of Annapolis, died on Saturday, January 23, 2016, at his brother's home in Crofton. Mr. Smith was in the care of Hospice of the Chesapeake following a hard fought battle with cancer.
Mr. Smith was a longtime resident of Arnold, MD. He was born in Washington D.C., the son of Warren and Eileen Smith (who passed in 1993). While growing up in Crofton, as a teenager he was passionate about pushing the limits of what he could achieve including obtaining his pilot's license (youngest pilot in Maryland at that time), racing cars before he had his driver's license and playing great golf. He attended University of Maryland at College Park where he studied Computer Science and Business. In 1980 Mr. Smith started CTL, a computer terminal leasing company, joined shortly thereafter by his two brothers, Jonathan Smith and Steven Smith (who passed in 1998). Mr. Smith and his brothers also started Compucel of Laurel, in 1984, winning many industry awards. Mr. Smith continued to operate Compucel until 2007.
Mr. Smith then launched a career in real estate beginning with commercial real estate and ultimately found his niche as one of Century 21 New Millennium Top Agents as a Short Sale Specialist. He had consistently earned the prestigious Centurion Award for 5 consecutive years beginning in 2011 through 2015.
He is survived by his father Warren Smith, brother Jonathan Smith, sister Kathleen Smith Hornberger, his significant partner Cindy Gardner and her two sons Chris and Tyler Gardner. He also leaves 5 nieces and nephews Tim Smith of Seattle Washington, Chelsea Smith of Clyde, NC, Samantha Smith of Crofton, MD, Zack Hornberger of Santa Margarita, CA, and Chloe Hornberger of Crofton, MD.
The service honoring Mr. Smith will be held at Woods Memorial Presbyterian Church, 611 Baltimore Annapolis Blvd, in Severna Park at 3:00 pm on Friday February 5th.
