In Loving Memory of Brett Howard Shifflett
It is with great sadness that the family of Brett Howard Shifflett announces his passing on Friday, September 19, 2025, at the age of 64.

Brett was born on May 17, 1961, to his loving parents, the late Jack and Dawn Shifflett. A proud alumnus of the University of Maryland, College Park, he earned a Bachelor's degree in Agriculture and Forestry before answering the call to serve. He enlisted in the U.S. Army, a journey that took him abroad to Germany and to the shores of Hawaii, experiences he valued throughout his life.

After his honorable service, Brett returned to Maryland and began a second career in public service as a State Corrections Officer, a role he fulfilled with integrity until his retirement.

Away from work, Brett's life revolved around simple but profound joys. He cherished every moment spent with his family, especially sharing a good meal while dining out. A man of discipline and strength, he was dedicated to his fitness regimen and was a familiar face at the local gym, where he focused on weightlifting.

He leaves behind a legacy of quiet strength and dedication. He will be dearly missed by his three nieces, Deatrie Young, Jennifer Kellington, and Annabelle Crewe; and all who knew him.
