Brent Kurrle

Brent Alan Kurrle, 51, of Severna Park, died of cancer July 21 at Baltimore Washington Medical Center.

Born Dec. 5, 1954, in Baltimore, Mr. Kurrle was reared on the Magothy River in Severna Park where he graduated from Severna Park High School in 1973. He attended Anne Arundel Community College and Virginia Polytechnic Institute. He graduated from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Va. with a degree in engineering technology.

Throughout his career, he won many service and development awards in that field, working for companies, such as Gould and, for the past 10 years, Northrop Grumman Corporation.

Mr. Kurrle served for many years as the ESP League representative and referee for North Cape Arthur's swim team, took horses to shows, gave river boat rides to a neighborhood Girl Scout Troop and was part of the Severna Park High School marching band equipment crew.

An avid fisherman, he annually participated in the Spring Rockfish MSSA Tournament. He was also a member of the Magothy River Association.

Surviving are his wife of 22 years, Donna Nahrgang Kurrle; two daughters, Rebecca and Dana Kurrle, both of Severna Park; two brothers, Christian Kurrle of Marquette, Mich. and Steven Kurrle of Florida; and two sisters, Susan Smith and Lisa Kupper, both of Severna Park.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. tomorrow at Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway, Severna Park. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at Severna Park United Methodist Church, 731 Benfield Road in Severna Park. Burial is private.
