Brenda Hall Schoener was born Brenda Chapman Hall on October 24th 1939 in Cleveland, Ohio, to Stanley and Evelyn Hall. Brenda graduated from Muskingum University where she met her husband-to-be, Rev. Dr. W. Terry Schoener. She studied as a graduate student at Duquesne University and Youngstown State University. She served as an educator in Pittsburgh, PA, Medina and Warren, Ohio, and from 1979 to retirement in Anne Arundel County, MD at Rippling Woods and Edgewater Elementary schools. After retirement, Brenda tutored for the Literary Council, volunteered at Meals On Wheels and Caring Connection, and was called back by A.A. Co. Schools as a Right Start Advisor to new teachers.

Active at Woods Memorial Presbyterian Church in Severna Park, MD where her husband served for 27 years, she was an advocate for refugee resettlement, taught confirmation and loved to take care of children in the cribbery.

In retirement, Brenda and her husband created the non-profit corporation Backpack Buddies of Anne Arundel County, Inc. to provide weekend meals, coats and hats, blankets and summer camp to each of fifty to sixty children at Tyler Heights Elementary School. All of this is done through the extraordinary support of many donors and volunteers.

Brenda is survived by her husband, Terry; her children, Halle Schoener Randles (Steven), Matthew Schoener (Lisa), and Bradley Schoener (Leslie); six grandchildren, Clare Randles Moore (Brent), Tyler Randles, Yana Schoener, Lauren Schoener, Hannah Schoener, Fionna Schoener; and one great-grandchild, Jackson Moore.

The service of Witness to the Resurrection will be held at Woods Memorial Presbyterian Church in Severna Park, MD on December 5th at 1:30 pm with reception to follow. Arrangements made by Barranco & Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, Brenda's request is that memorial gifts be given for refugee resettlement and/or Backpack Buddies, and should be sent to Backpack Buddies of A.A. Co., Inc., 305 Stowaway Lane, Severna Park, MD 21146 indicating the donor's preference, if any.
