Bobbie Eugene Davenport, 68, an Arnold Resident for the past 25 years, died on July 5, 2008, at Anne Arundel Medical Center, due to heart failure after a lengthy illness.

Mr. Davenport was born September 27, 1939 in Grimesland, North Carolina , where he was raised.

He lived in Severna Park and Arnold area since he was 17 years old. He was married on November 25, 1959.

He worked at Pepco as a lineman then a truck driver. He is a retired mechanic and tow truck driver from Benfield Shell after 20 years.

Mr. Davenport was a previous association member of the American Legion Post 175. He enjoyed shooting pool and horseback riding, boating, and watching TV, wrestling in particular.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Ann Davenport who died in 2005; a brother, David Davenport ; and a sister, Louraye Cherry.

Survivors include two sons, Earl (Gene) E. Davenport of Severna Park, MD and Bruce A. Davenport of Glen Burnie, MD; three sisters, Mavis Whitaker of NC, Nancy Harrison of Grimesland, NC, and Diane Davis of NC; and five grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

Family and friends may visit on Wednesday, July 9 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm at Barranco & Sons, PA Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Gov. Ritchie Hwy in Severna Park, MD. A Funeral Service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, July 10 at 11:00 AM. Interment will be private.
