Betty Ann White, 81,of Annapolis, Maryland passed away at her home following a brief illness. She was born in Somerset County on November 14, 1930 to Leslie and Helen Tilghman White. She graduated from Salisbury State Teacher's College in 1951. Upon graduation she moved to Annapolis and began her career as an educator. Betty Ann taught school for over 30 years in the county school systems and privately tutored special needs students for many years after her retirement.
Betty Ann was a proud sister of the local Omega chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Society International. She loved to travel, was a voracious reader and she never missed her favorite TV show, Jeopardy. She was a very active member of the First Presbyterian Church and took great pleasure in being so involved with many aspects of the church including teaching Sunday school and the CLAMS craft group. Betty Ann was extremely active in the Retired Teachers Association of Anne Arundel County as well and truly enjoyed the camaraderie of her fellow teachers, students, and friends.
She is survived by her brother Freddie White of Princess Anne, nieces and nephews Lisa, Leslie, Mahlon and Julia White. She is also survived by cousins and other relatives. Betty Ann also leaves to mourn many very special, caring friends.
A Memorial Service will be held Sunday, November 4th, 2012 at First Presbyterian Church in Annapolis. Service will commence at 2:30pm followed by a reception in the rectory.
