Bernard Nakielski Sr., 87, of Severna Park, passed away August 19, 2010 at St. Agnes Hospital in Baltimore, MD. He was born February 19, 1923 in Poland. He was a member of Broadneck Elks Lodge #2608, the Edelweiss Club, the Polish Falcons of America, and St. Paul Lutheran Church in Annapolis.

When Mr. Nakielski was 16 years old, he was a cadet on the Polish School ship called the "Dar Parmoza" (one of the tall ships to visit Baltimore Harbor in 1976). He was a chef at various restaurants, camps and schools throughout the state of Maryland. He retired at the age of 62. He loved his family, friends, gardening and fishing.

Mr. Nakielski was preceded in death by his son Bernard Nakielski Jr., his grandson Paul Bernard Russell, seven brothers and one sister. He is survived by his wife, Betty Nakielski of 55 years, two daughters, Monica Russell and her husband Bob Russell of Cambridge, MD and Sandy Smith and her husband Charles G. Smith of Severna Park, MD; three grandsons, Rob Russell and Eric Russell of Cambridge MD and David Zuger of Somerset Kentucky, one granddaughter, Kristen Zuger of Severna Park, MD and numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

A visitation will be held at the Barranco & Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home on Sunday August 22, 2010 from 1-4pm. A service will be held at St. Paul Lutheran Church of Annapolis on Monday August 23, 2010 at 10 am. Interment in Meadowridge Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church of Annapolis or the Paul Russell Memorial Scholarship Fund (Bank of the Eastern Shore).
