Benjamin Philip Tilyou, 81, a resident of Severna Park, MD, died on October 29, 2009 at Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis.
He was born February 27, 1928 in Norwich, NY and graduated from Hyattsville High School in 1946. He previously lived in Riverdale, MD for 37 years, and has lived in Severna Park, MD for the past 19 years.
Mr. Tilyou served in the U.S. Marines and worked as a computer programmer for GEICO Insurance where he was employed for 25 years. He was a member of the Order of DeMoley and his interests were woodworking and model trains.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Jay Tilyou.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Elise Tilyou of Severna Park, MD, two sons, Mark Tilyou of Curtis Bay, MD and Eric Tilyou and wife, Dona, of Severna Park, MD; two granddaughters, Teresa and Rebecca; one grandson, Paul; and one brother, David Tilyou of Lakeland, FL.
A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, November 8, 2009 at 2:00 pm at St. Martin's in-the Field Episcopal Church, 375 Benfield Road, Severna Park, MD 21146. Arrangements made by Barranco & Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Martin's Organ Fund or Charity of One's Choice.
