Benjamin Louis Staisloff, aged 27, died on March 21 st , 2017. Ben was a talented musician, writer, and naturalist. Ben was a 2014 graduate of St. Mary's College of Maryland, with a major in English.

Ben was an expert hiker who celebrated the outdoors, completing the northern half of the Appalachian Trail and the entire length of the Pacific Crest Trail. In the Summer of 2016, Ben joined his entire family in completing the Camino de Santiago in Portugal and Spain. He was a talented musician, playing the guitar in a pick-up band in venues across the country and in places in Maryland such as the Green Door Pub at St. Mary's College.

Ben's writing was thoughtful and nuanced; his poem "Sir" was a winning entry in the Poetry for the Mind's Joy project, and can be found at the Library of Congress Poetry and Literature Center.

Ben was a passionate believer in sustainable farming. For Ben, it was a career and a commitment to others. He pursued this passion in work on sustainable farms on both the East and West Coast over the past three years.

Ben is survived by his loving family: his parents, Michele and Richard Staisloff, and his brother and sisters, Zachary, Hannah, and Emma.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, March 25 th , at 11:00 am in the Hodson Boathouse on the campus of St. Johns College, 60 College Avenue, Annapolis, MD 21401. Parking on the street or at the State of Maryland Parking Garage on St. John's Street.
