Dr. Benjamin A. Malkiel, of Glen Burnie, passed away on Tuesday, October 2, 2018 after a lengthy battle with Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia. He was born on April 23, 1951 in Monticello, NY. He previously lived in Columbia, MD and Farmville, VA.
Dr. Malkiel was former Director of the In-Patient team and was a Hospitalist at Baltimore Washington Medical Center since 1999.
Dr. Malkel graduated from The West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine in 1994 and was a member of Psi Sigma Alpha Osteopathic Honor Society. He completed his fellowship at The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in 1997. Dr. Malkiel's hobbies included photography, bicycling, gardening, and spending time with his family and friends.
Dr. Malkiel was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel and Fay Malkiel. He is survived by his beloved wife of 24 years, Carol Malkiel; three children, Daniel Malkiel (Patricia) of Germany, Nechama Malkiel (Toby) of Washington, DC, and Eric Malkiel of Greenbelt; two step-children, Sherri Trader (Kevin) of Annapolis, and Michael McCraw (Jen) of Union, WV; and five grandchildren. Dr. Malkiel is also survived by one sister, Tina Malkiel of Ambler, PA.
Family and friends may gather on Sunday, October 7, 2018 from 5 – 8pm at the Barranco & Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Hwy. Interment will be private.
