Barbara J. Sullivan, Retired Teacher, Severna Park Resident Mother and Grandmother
Barbara Sullivan (nee Stewart) of Severna Park Md, died August 15, 2013 at aged 71 at home after a lengthy illness.
Barbara was a resident of the Ben Oaks Community in Severna Park, MD for the past 26 years and prior to that resided in Bowie, MD for 15 years. Born in New York City, Barbara received her Bachelors of Science from Good Council College in New Rochelle, New York and her Masters in Special Education from Bowie State College, Maryland. Barbara taught high school science for many years at Archbishop Spalding HS in Severn, Md and later at Arundel High School. Barbara was active in her church and community as a religious education teacher and in local boy and girl scouts.
Barbara was predeceased in 1991 by her husband of 27 years Francis Sullivan, an FBI Special Agent in the Annapolis Office, and is survived by her three children Elizabeth Fay, of Bernardsville NJ, Francis Sullivan of Towson MD, and Kerry Quinn of Baltimore MD, as well as her sister Kathy DeChiario of Medford NY, and six grandchildren, John, Patrick, Erin, Andrew, Rita and Cullin.
Barbara was very well known in the local area and was a friend to many. Her intelligence, advice, friendship and love will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
A visitation will be held on Monday, August 19, 2013 from 4 to 7 pm at Barranco and Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway, Severna Park, MD. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Tuesday, August 20, 2013 at noon in St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Severna Park.
