Barbara Bradford Webster Smith was born on March 25, 1939 in Hyannis, MA and passed away on February 13, 2020 surrounded by her children and just in time to join her husband of fifty-five years in heaven for Valentine's Day. She is survived by her two children Pam Smith, Bob Smith and his wife Grace, and her two grandchildren, whom she adored, Zach and Amelia. She is also survived by her extended family and many friends to whom she is affectionately known as Barb, Barbie or Babs.

Barb grew up in South Yarmouth in Cape Cod, MA, a place that always held a special place in her heart. She graduated from Dennis Yarmouth High School where, unbeknownst to her, she met the love of her life, Robert "Bob" Smith. He was more certain of their future and began proposing marriage after they met, but Barb's education was important to her so she went on Bridgewater College where she studied education and met lifelong friends. Following college and nine marriage proposals, Barb finally said yes and married Bob in a small ceremony on August 14, 1965.

Her love of children played an important part of her life. She taught English as a Second Language in upstate New York, working with refugee children from Southeast Asia. When the family moved to Maryland, she began teaching at Parole Elementary School then later at Odenton Elementary School. While she was working full-time and raising an active family, she took on the challenge of getting her Master's Degree as a reading specialist.

She enjoyed spending time with friends and family. She had monthly lunch dates with the "carpool", a group of teachers who stayed close even after retirement. She was an active member of Woods Church where she served as a Deacon, a Stephen Minister and was a member of a Christcare Group. Every Sunday she had a standing lunch date with friends after church.

She was adored by her family and will forever be remembered for her beautiful smile and loving, playful spirit. She faced life's challenges with grace and a deep faith, always maintaining a positive outlook.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Barb's name to Woodswork, a mission project in partnership with Habitat for Humanity where high school students build homes for families in need, or Backpack Buddies, a program that provides food and other services for children over the weekend who receive free lunch from school during the week.
